Being able to add a new shower enclosure or upgrade the one you already have is a benefit of home ownership. It is far better to bathe in a walk in shower enclosure with walls than to have to deal with a messy, sagging shower curtain every day. Having an enclosed bathing space is most important, but it is also helpful and enjoyable to have some added perks when you bathe.
Many people, including many women and the elderly, enjoy having a built-in seat. This is handy for women to shave their legs or for anyone who does not have the physical stamina to remain standing while they wash and rinse. It is even better when the seat folds up, adding extra space when it is not in use.
Another important option to have is plenty of shelf space. Shampoo and conditioner bottles, bathing sponge, razor, bar of soap and other personal items all require a space on which to store them. A bathroom shower enclosure with built-in shelving helps to keep all these items neatly stored and conveniently within reach.
The least expensive enclosures have framed glass doors. The glass in this type of door is very thin and requires frames made of aluminum for support. Without metal frames, they would easily break and be a hazard. Because of their low cost, doors of this type are used most often.
There is, however, the option of having a frameless shower enclosure complete with a frameless door. The glass used for these is much thicker and sturdier so a metal frame is not required. This type of shower enclosure is far more attractive and lasts longer than the cheaper variety. If your budget does not permit the purchase of the frameless stall, or even a frameless door, then there are semi-framed options available.
Whether you choose a framed or frameless option you are sure to enjoy the easy access and more spacious feeling of your new walk in bathing area.
